Arcadia grew up on Recar until her home was attacked by the Pandronan Empire. She was taken captive and put into the Kamps—a facility for the children of rebels against the Empire where they conduct experiments and make the children battle each other and brainwash them into becoming weapons of war. Arcadia survived and when she was being tested in front of the new emperor, Neil, she tried to kill him. Impressed she withstood everything in the Kamps, he decided to train her himself. She becomes the Emperor’s Shadow, an assassin that works behind the scenes for the emperor.

Arcadia trains for years and is given her first mission by herself on Recar. She is supposed to assassinate the leader, Jack, but fails as he figured out what she was up to. Instead, he proposes a deal with the Empire and that starts the Recar—Imperial treaty. Her and Jack work often together, and the two of them becomes closer each time.

She completes mission after mission, never questioning what was asked of her. That is, until her long last brother, whom she thought was dead, shows up trying to assassinate the Emperor.
